Unlike other phones, the LG android smartphones have unique protection, which checks some required apps before boot up, in cases the required apps are missing then you’ll get a Security Error message on boot screen as happened to its predcessor. This means you need to be careful when picking apps to be removed from the LG Optimus G Pro. For me personally, it’s better to freeze the bloatware instead of deleting it as the apps are still placed on the device but is not active, so the chances of us getting20130609191019/ a security error is very small.

For those who want to freeze or remove pre-installed/bloatware apps from AT&T LG Optimus G Pro (E980), you can follow the below steps:

  1. Without a doubt, we need root privileges to do this, since all are system apps that found in the system partition.
  2. We can get rid of the pre-loaded apps located in “/system/app” folder manually by using a file manager app such as ES Explorer, X-plore, Root Browser, etc.
  3. To make it easier, you can also use tools like Titanium Backup Root, ROM Manager or MyBackup to remove, backup or freeze the apps.
  4. Here is a list of pre-installed/bloatware apps that are safe to freeze/remove, most of which are AT&T’s apps:
    AT&T Address Book
    – // – Code scanner
    – // – Family map
    – // – Hot spots
    – // – Locker
    – // – Messages
    – // – Navigator
    – // – Ready2go
    – // – Smart WiFi
    Live TV
    Yp Mobile

If you feel the list is not complete you can try to freeze some other apps before deleting it, and be sure not to remove Google apps (Books/Music) because there will likely be able to trigger a security error on Optimus G Pro(LGE980).
